Sleepy Book by Charlotte Zolotow & Vladimir Bobri

The classic, Sleepy Book was published 18th November 2016 by Bodleian Library. Written by Charlotte Zolotow and illustrated by Vladimir Bobri.

Said the  Mudwaffler… “this little book rounds up all the sleepy animals in the world and tucks them in (and you) for a good night’s rest.”

What a lovely little book this is!

Charlotte Zolotow’s text rolls off the tongue to give us an insight into each of the featured animals’ bedtime habits. There are horses, pigeons, fish, moths, spiders, a seal, a bear, a snow crane, a grasshopper, a tortoise, a caterpillar, a dog, a kitten, and of course – a little boy and girl.

Each of which is illustrated beautifully in a minimalist line and palette by Vladimir Bobri…

It’s the perfect bedtime companion in getting little people to sleep, but also in giving us a little insight into the sleeping patterns of those slumbering animals. It’s easy to imagine them all curling up, ready for a snooze with you.
